Mooring System for Fukushima Floating Offshore Wind Farm
PH was involved in providing the mooring system for the Fukushima Floating Offshore Wind Farm Demonstration Project in 2012. This project was funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan. In this demonstration project, 3 floating wind turbines and 1 floating power sub-stationed will be installed off the cost of Fukushima. The first phase of the project consist of a 2MW floating win turbine and the world first 25MVA floating substation. The floating platform consists of 1 centre column, 3 side columns, 3 braces, the main deck beams and the pontoon which supports the beams and wind turbine. PH was contracted to design and manufacture 6 chain stoppers and 6 fairleads for the floating platform.
